Fairway Solitaire Walkthrough

Fairway Solitaire is a card game based on the Golf variation of solitaire, which is itself loosely inspired by the sport of golf. Fairway Solitaire features simple controls, outstanding graphics, and sound effects that add liveliness to the game.

Fairway Solitaire consists of nine "courses", made up of three "holes" each. New courses are unlocked upon the completion of prior courses. Your progress is saved in this card game, so you can play on any unlocked course the next time that you play.

Like the sport of golf, the objective of Fairway Solitaire is to get as low of a score as possible. Your score is determined by the number of cards left on the screen when the hole ends. Cards are removed from the screen by placing them on the foundation stack. Cards may be placed on the foundation stack if they are one higher or one lower than the top-most card on the foundation stack (the face-up card at the bottom of the screen). If you cannot place any cards, you can deal a new card by clicking the face-down card adjacent to the foundation stack. When all cards have been dealt and there are no valid moves remaining, click the button to end the hole and tally your score.

Unlike standard Golf solitaire, Fairway Solitaire features cards other than the standard deck of fifty-two. These cards are iron cards and wild cards. Iron cards are stored in your bag and can be used at any time to change the top card of the foundation stack. When a wild card is uncovered, you can choose to either take a one-stroke penalty, or choose to "play it as it lies". Choosing the latter option can result in a variety of outcomes, including ending the game prematurely or clearing the stage for you, earning a perfect score. Choosing this option is a gamble and won't always work out in your favor, so in some cases it might be safer just to take the penalty, especially when there are still many cards on the field.

Fairway Solitaire is an addictive solitaire game that takes skill as well as luck. As an additional challenge, see if you can earn three gold stars on all nine courses!
